[FC] Clutch chatter revisited

So I burnt the clutch a bit the other night and it is still pretty
chattery. I got to thinking about the angle/bolt bracket on the front of
many of our engines to keep them in gear. Mine has a big honking one as
it has been beefed up over the years.

The bracket is supposed to have some insulating rubber, correct? This
one has none. Could this be transferring the vibrating jolt of the
engine fore/aft movement upon acceleration to the body and making
everything worse? I was thinking about backing that big bolt in the
bracket off to see if it made any difference.

I know I have a heavy van- that does not help things. The rest is pretty
much as it should be. Next step will be to take a good friend's offer
and put a hydraulic clutch in to see if that makes things better. I am
not ready to go Powerglide yet, excepting that I have been looking
lately at a local '69 Chevy van for sale with a 283 and Powerglide
tranny. Looks sweet and would still give me this old van feel with more
power!
