JR you can forward this to the gentlemen.

Mr. Raker:

I am Frank Regal, CORSA Board of Director. I did the body restoration of a FC Ramp this year for a friend. It was the subject of a Board of Director "Turn at the Wheel" article a couple months ago in the Communique.

The break line on the body side paint is where the cove meets the step or at the inner edge of the 1/16 ledge. You have to think about what made sense to GM from a labor standpoint. The secondary (cover) color was painted first. It was easier to mask the cove than the entire body. The masking operation was done by hand under time constraints.

It is also acceptable for the line to intrude on the ledge or step. On my example, this occurred on the curved portion on the tail gate. It also occurred at the door gaps to cover misalignment.

I believe the roof color breaks where the gutter meets the body side roof panels but I haven't done a van for a long time.

Frank Regal

Hello, all you FC paint experts.
In the Cove that surrounds an FC, there are small flats (about 1/16 inch
wide) at the top and bottom edges of the cove, right between the double
curve of the Cove and the main parts of the body panels. Should these flats
be painted body color or trim color? Which way were they painted by the
factories?
On some FCs, the roof is painted off-white (trim color). Should the drip
rails be painted body color or trim color? Which way were they done by the
factories?
Thanks in advance for your help.
