[FC] muffler hanger replacement on Lakewood

If you look at the new part you will see that the upper hole is a complete circle. This hole goes over the 3/8" stud that the coil mounts to on one side. If the old one is in good shape and not rusted through anywhere, it would be easier to drill/grind out the rivits and bolt the new "lower half" to the old upper half. If you really want to change the whole thing you will have to remove some sheet metal so you can slide the hanger off the stud.

Be sure to cut a slot on the flat side to the upper hole so you can slide the new one in and out when you need to replace it again.

Subject: [FC] muffler hanger replacement on Lakewood

Hi all,

non- FC question.

I am replacing the muffler hanger on my 61 Lakewood with the Clarks All in one
part (complete metal and rubber hanger)

Went to take off what is left of the old hanger (just the part bolted to the
engine with a bit of the leather strap). Removed the bolt at the bottm right
(just below valve cover) and thought the piece would slide out with some
coaxing- before I start tapping (or swinging) with a hammer - is there a bolt
somewhere that I can't see? I looked and felt around with no result.

Any help as always is welcome.
