I have given up on finding the time to restore the 62 Greenbrier I bought a
couple of years ago in California to replace the 61 model that I bought in
2001 from Chuck Armer, Jr. after it was totaled in 2007. I think it was
Larry Shapiro's shop (but it may have been California Corvairs) that the
previous owner paid to do a lot of mechanical work. It has a new clutch,
new brakes, new tires and a bunch of other new parts and pieces. It is the
only Corvair I own that does not leak a drop of oil. In the paper work I
received when I bought the Van, the previous owner supplied me with all of
the receipts for parts and labor that he could find. In the couple of
years he owned the van, he spent nearly $3000...a lot...however, some of it
was for labor.

I have not checked the numbers on the motor nor the transaxle, but I am
going to guess it is an 80hp engine. It has a 4 speed transmission with
the early style shifter mechanism. I had it delivered to me in Columbia,
KY via a car transport company from the previous owner in San Diego, CA.

The van appears to have been repainted once sometime during its life, but
it was quite sometime ago. The repaint is definitely dated...not a show
vehicle by my standards at all. If you were at the 2004 convention in
Lexington, KY and saw the raffle car...then you know my standards. What I
will say is that it is at least 95% rust free. However it's bright trim
work...whether aluminum or chrome...has pitting I assume from salt air. My
rampside has near perfect chrome and the rest of it is eat up with
rust...hard to understand.

I have attached a link to a non-password required photo gallery. The
pictures were all taken by the previous owner. The van has been under a
carport the entire time I have owned it.

The windshield is broken, but the van will come with a good used shaded
windshield and a new rubber gasket from Clarks.
