[FC] mirror question

My '61 Rampy has a loose interior rear view mirror. I disassembled it in order to paint the support bracket and now that it is back together the mounting screw cannot be tightened enough to hold the mirror. Have I lost a washer or spacer? Tim Werner 61 rampy 4 spd 140
