[FC] FC overload springs Revisited ... anyone?

Doug,

I've seen two kinds. Both were basically a half a leaf spring. The first
was 3 or 4 thin leafs of spring steel sandwiched together, the other was a
single thick leaf of steel. Both rode above the "A" arm and resisted
excessive upward movement. I'm not 100% sure on the multileaf design, but
the single thick leaf has two large bolts that fasten through to threaded
holes already in the body rail of the truck. I have a set of the thick
single leafs.

A slightly more complicated approach might be to look at AirRide Shockwaves
built for the front of a 55-7 Chevy, although I haven't verified it, I
suspect they would be a straight bolt in to the rear of an FC. My one
concern would whether or not cutting of the upper spring perch might be
required for clearance of these units.

Regards,
Joel

P.S. If anyone would like overload springs for the FRONT of a late '60's
early 70's Chev Full Size pickup, drop me a line. ;-)

Springs may not be the correct term for they do not look like springs.
More like a bar with two rubber pads on one end that might sandwich the
lower control arm and the other end that might bolt onto the frame rail near
where the E. brake bracket is welded.
On the frame rail near the rear is a hole with a welded nut in place.
The hole in the end of the overload bar(?) lines up with the hole on the
frame rail when the other end with the two rubber pads are sandwiching the
control arm. I will attempt to include photos.
Anyone have experience with these?
Thanks
Doug
