[FC] Fuel hose

Hi Ben,

I've just done exactly the same thing for the same reasons on my 62
Greenbrier, and yes you do have to drop the tank. After changing the hose
(50 year old rubber is more like ceramic than flexible) it works all fine
for me, so I'd say it would probably fix your problem.

Unless they have already been replaced sometime in the last 10 years, I'd
suggest that you change the connecting hoses from the filler and the pickup
gasket at the same time.

Another thing, I found it a very tight fit to get the tank back in, I had to
bend up the flanges around the tank a little to get clearance.

And I took the opportunity to paint the tank and straps at the same time,
hopefully will help stop the rot. As well as putting all new brake lines in,
but then I was fitting a dual master at the same time.

Hope that helps,

Daren (UK)

Subject: [FC] Fuel hose

Greetings FCers,

I have been having trouble with the Greenbrier running fine then acting like
it is running out of gas, obviously losing power, pinging a good bit, then
returning to normal...so far.

I have been advised to check the "stone" fuel filters in the carbs. This is
a procedure I have tackled before and sounds like a good idea.

I have also been advised that air entering the mix up at the fuel hose
directly from the tank could be a good culprit as well (due to a faulty
hose). Do I need to drop the tank to replace that fuel hose? If not, where
does it come off of the tank? (I can see the rear connection where hose
meets fuel line and goes back to the rear of the van).

Thanks very much. I am hoping to get things squared away here soon.

Ben
