[FC] gremlin

Another electrical gremlin on the '61 rampy. I installed 3 gauges in a panel when i redid the truck interior. One of the gauges is an "oil temp" gauge from Clarks that is installed in one of the holes in their after - market aluminum oil pan. The gauge is quite accurate until the trucks' headlights are turned on.As soon as either the headlights or parking lights are turned "on" the needle goes high against the upper peg on the upper reaches of the scale. When I turn the trucks' lights "off" the needle goes back to its correct reading. I rarely drive it at night, and this happened for the first time yesterday although I suspect it has always done this, I so rarely drive after sunset. What did I do wrong?Tim w '61 Rampy 140 4- spd
