Darren,

For what it is worth, from my metal man.. We have just replaced a cowl panel, dash and RH tulip in a 68 Z28. Have re-done two LM Corvairs which now have zero rust - all metal. He has made pieces for a FC van and replaced the roof. (67 PG cpe, reblt engine, new tires is for sale, BTW).

The only way I know is to cut access holes on the inside panel or cut out the entire inside panel make your spot welds then weld the inside panel back in. If the rampside has panels that are screwed in like the vans then you may be able to just take them off but if my memory is not fading i do not think they have removable panels.Bottom line is to do the complete panel with flanges you have to go in from the inside. Second option is if the flange area on the old panel is not rusty then you could come in about an inch from the flange, cut the old panel out then trim the new panel to fit the opening and butt weld the new panel in with the old flanges left in tact. The second method you will get warpage which will require body filler or you have to have access from the inside to metal finish the outside and if you are gonig to metal finish the panel so there is little to no body filler then you may as well go with option one. Either way is a little time consuming but will result in a much better job.

    Hello,

I'm working to eradicate the rust in my '61 Rampside, and I have the full
replacement side panel from Clark's. It is a full panel with flanges on
top and sides and is intended to replace the entire panel, but its not
clear to me how one would get access to the sides of the panel once it is
put in place to weld the sides.

Has anyone done this repair and able to shed some light on the topic?

    Thanks,

    Darren
