[FC] Bench seat on a Rampside

I have new vinyl seat covers and foam and am reupholstering the front bench seat on my Rampside.  Two questions:


1.       The prior seat cover was not stock and they had some sheet aluminum screwed to the back of the bench seat.  The new seat cover will cover the back but when I dismantle the old, the sheet aluminum comes off and is obviously not stock.  The back of the seat is framed but do I put something like Masonite or cardboard across the back prior to recover or just slip on seat cover over the seat wide frame?

2.       Was there a "lock" or "lever" to release the front bench to fold forward.  There is none now and there are holes but is there a locking mechanism to keep the seat from just folding forward?
