Thanks Bryan.  That's good to know.  Also a good tip on overfilling the
crankcase.  I hadn't heard that one before.  Hopefully I'll get to work on
the car this weekend.

No, rock it back and forth with the long box wrench Curt suggested.  
Also, you can overfill the crankcase with some light oil (get cheap 
5W-30 or something) to get at the rings from the other side.
