Basic troubleshooting for the ignition is follow the path the spark 
would take back until you find something that works:

  - Spark at #1 lead
  - Spark from coil
  - Power to coil
  - Spark when points are closed/opened

I've had a couple of stubborn distributors, usually cured with lots of 
penetrating oil.  Try to break it loose by rotating, rather than 
pulling straight out.
