Hi all.

For the third time in 1.5 years my basement apartment flooded.

Screw this $hit. I want to buy my own place. One that doesn't smell like a sewer.

The reality of the market and the reality of my education loans dictate that if I want to stay in Arlington I can afford only a studio or a one bedroom in a condo. That's fine: I don't take up too much space, and it's a good investment since I can one day rent it to others. I've focused my efforts on a particular condo complex in Rosslyn.

The flipside, of course, is that I'll want to take three cars with me: my Bronco II commuter whore, my 1971 BMW, and my 1960 Corvair. Spots are available through an informal system of barter (i.e., a note on the laundry room bulletin board -- prices range from $50 to $150/mo) or outright purchase (approx. $10,000, with a biannual $250 fee for taxes).

If I rent spots from another, three cars can mean a monthly parking fee of up to $450. Yuk.

I could buy one spot perhaps. The problem, though, is that I'd have to roll the $10k price into my mortgage payment. Should I choose to one day rent the place out to someone else, the rent might not cover the total payment.

Does anyone have any ideas -- even far-fetched ones? Friends in the area with parking places? Anything?
