The reason the General stopped using the folded fin is they clogged too 
easily.  Common wisdom says the 12 plate you have on the 140 cools the 
oil as well as the folded fin.

Now, that said, the "plate" coolers all leak air out the sides, if you 
look at how the top shroud fits against the top of the cooler, you'll 
see.  You can make a set of side shrouds for the cooler that will both 
cool the oil better and keep the #2 cylinder cooler as well:
