Regarding the attempted verification of an "authentic" 1965 Monza Spyder in the latest Communique: how did you feel about the lengths the author went to verify (and, potentially, acquire) the car in question?

Thoughts about hiring a PI made me wince; the SSN and doucument searches were nothing short of disturbing; and the repeated prodding of an old man to address a part of his personal life he didn't wish to discuss with a virtual stranger was, I think, apalling.

Am I being too sensitive?  Before I fire off a letter to the editor I'd like to know your opinions.
