[NoVa-Corvairs] RE: 61' Steering Box

Hi Curt,

Even more simple than that...though I did pull the box and inspect
it...and even had a back up ready to go, but I found that even though the
splines on one part of the (worm) shaft were mashed, I could situate a
good clamp to take advantage of what was left. Seems very solid. The
internals of the box itself seem to be just fine and fully greased.

Further on 61' steering boxes...I got to do the "miracle cure" of taking
the lash out of the steering of Mike Puglisi's 61' this last weekend via a
simple adjustment in the trunk. He brought it over so we could inspect
the front end and we spent all our time trying to figure out his fuel
delivery problem....which we have not solved completely. He is going to
get a new fuel pump as we suspect that the 45 year old unit on his car may
be a bit weak.

Darrin:

On the '61 steering box, did you replace the box with another or
disassembly and replace parts inside the box?

Curt
