Bryan,
Not sure if he put a new line on, but he did pull the fuel guage sender
and clean out the gas tank while we had the motor out, so he did deal with
that line. I just assumed the problem was not there, but a good idea to
inspect/replace that hose as well. We replaced the hard line to fuel pump
hose with new hose and a clear plastic fuel filter. Carbs looked
OK....could be bad fuel...would be interesting to just fill it up the rest
of the way at a different gas station.
I should have blown out the fuel line when we had the rubber line off
before we put the fuel filter on just to ensure no obstruction.

Before you replace the pump, have you replaced the fuel hose that
connects the engine hard line to the body line? You should also
replace the one from the tank to the body line, although this one will
usually show fuel if there's a leak. Leaks in these hoses will allow
the pump to suck air instead of fuel.
Regarding the pumps, the push rod is different on '62 and later. I'm
pretty sure you can just swap the later rod onto your engine and use
the late pump.
