Hi Al,
We are really too far down the planning road to do an offsite.
Realistically, I would want to choose a restaurant within walking
distance (there is one) so we don't have to pile everything into
vehicles (trophies, for one). Even that poses problems, for example if
it's raining. Other negatives include hassle for us - now we have to
calculate winners for events (the rally ends at 4), get ready, *and*
allow time to go somewhere else. Finally, most restaurants aren't set
up for 60 folks to show up and listen to a speaker. I do enough youth
sports end of season parties to tell you that 30 people - never mind 60
- is a stretch almost everywhere - it's too loud, the layout is
inconvenient, etc. The only reason it works for a team is you can put
the twelve kids at one table.
The caterers can handle it. The only real reason it came up was
because of price, but we can keep that low enough.
