[NoVa-Corvairs] Torque settings

Okay. I managed to acquire a '66-9 left side half shat-to-diff yoke from an oldtimer (84!) up in Norman. Very nice man with seven Corvairs and almost as many Fieros.

The shop manual says that the bolt that fits into the center of the yoke requires 100 feet lbs of torque. Is that right? I'm at 50 feet lbs and that seems plenty tight -- no? What is the conventional wisdom here? Strictly adhere to the shop manual? Subtract some feet poundage?

Really. I'm pretty frightened about breaking off that long bolt in the diff.
