[NoVa-Corvairs] Thoughts on an issue?

I'll bet it's not the spacer, it's a stuck float and fuel is leaking
(running) into the carb throat, then out the throttle rod. Try
taking the air cleaner off and start the engine briefly and look down
the throat, if you see lots of fuel that's the culprit. Sometimes
the float can be un-stuck with some tapping on the carb right near
the inlet, but generally this means a carb rebuild, which isn't a
terribly difficult task. Rebuilding is usually just a good cleaning
and new gaskets.
