Maybe some light tapping with a light hammer will be enough to loosen without destroying it.
 
And Bryan I still need to get into the balcony closet and pull those shocks and get them to you.  I haven't forgotten...

That's how the late models are, but the earlies use the pivot bolt to  
retain the cylinder.  I suspect it's held in there by corrosion, but  
I want to be sure before using too much force.
