Hi Curt,
Coincidentally, we (Stefan and I) took off that same trim from our '66 for the same reason. There is a long bracket U shaped bracket screwed onto the car, the trim hooks over the top then snaps down. To get it off I usually find a soft mallet is required to get it started. Hope that helps.
