All: Thanks for your responses. Bryan's reply was the first and he gave me the piece of info for which I was looking. The molding is attached starting at the top and snapping on at the bottom. So before I saw Greg's response I did exactly as he said and I only needed my hands to get them off. Thanks guys.
I am getting the car painted in Mexico (1.5 hours drive) for $850 but just as important - in on Monday, out on Saturday. Curt

Hi Curt,
Coincidentally, we (Stefan and I) took off that same trim from our '66 for the same reason. There is a long bracket U shaped bracket screwed onto the car, the trim hooks over the top then snaps down. To get it off I usually find a soft mallet is required to get it started. Hope that helps.
