NO!  But you want to make sure every thing is dry and not oily.   If you have some Syl-glide (Silicone Grease) or some of the similar silicone grease that comes in small packets for disc brakes.   Just need a little to help it seat.   The compression and plyability of the rubber is what keeps it from leaking.   Also:  If you can, use a tourqe wrench and tightnen to the factory inch lbs setting.  Try not to over tighten.    Always worked for me.
