Bryan,
Hello Sir. Hope all is well with you and the Vair group. I enjoy receiving
the e-mails in order to keep in touch, since my current schedule is very
hectic.
I was reading the latest posting ref doing Carbs at the August meeting? If
so I would like to offer up as a donation to whoever may need them several
Carbs I have for the early vairs. They are matched and tagged off the
vehicles I got them from.
If this something you or the club would like, let me know and we'll figure
how to get them to you.
Thanks,
Mike Runnels

Given that the car was otherwise pretty complete and unmolested (as I
recall) when you got it I'd agree that the carbs are original.
Which leads me to - Corvair 140 primaries are not the same as 110 carbs.
For that matter, there are subtle changes from year to year and between
horsepower ratings in a given year (read Bob Helt's book on carbs for the
details). Personally, I would re-shaft and rebuild the carbs that are on
the car now if you have some confidence they are original, unless you are
certain that the replacements are '65/'66 140 primaries. If you want to
swap on some other primaries so the car isn't down that sounds like a good
idea, but only until you re-do the originals.
Conveniently, I believe Frank wanted to do carburetors at the August
meeting. Perhaps bring your carbs, kits, and a set of new shafts?
