Hi Stan,
I don't have any direct UV experience, but I have given a lot of thought to an engine for our Greenbrier. I don't think the additional top end of a 140 is particularly worth the added expense and lower reliability in a heavy vehicle, we just don't spend enough time north of 4k RPMs. Keep in mind the cooling system was designed for 80 HP.
My intended combo:
95 heads deflashed and milled .050" w/140 exhaust tubes and deep seats
OT-10 cam or 260 degree cam of choice
140 exh logs and big bore exhaust
Nitrided crank
New pistons, probably Clark's forged
Balanced, oil system blueprinted
12 plate oil cooler w/side shrouds
110 dist w/electronic conversion

But I think I really do want to do a PG with it for long term. This thing is a beast and I feel like we would be happier with PG for maneuvering and if my wife ever takes the wheel on long trips. So I'm going to research and would love to hear any opinions on a set up that would give me the nicest powerplant for traveling in this big whale. Gears, cam, etc, and maybe I can tackle this motor. I would love to learn how to build one and maybe it would be a fun group project at some point. In the meantime, if anyone with experience and thoughts are willing to share his thoughts, I would be very appreciative!
