Interesting. My 1964 Monza convertible is a 09C car WR 1831 and 12278 and it DOES have the correct 1964 style vent in the trunk, so it appears the change-over may have been the 2nd-3rd weeks of September!!! I imagine GM was just using up leftover parts.
Sure were a lot of cars made that week!!
Could you send me your complete Body Plate info?

That is an early number, Bill! My 64 convertible Spyder is WR 299 and 7285th; it was built in the second week of September (9B; 0911 on block and diff) of 1963. The trunk also has the 63 style plates and vent covers for the gasoline heater block-off like the one you saw, so those changes occurred well into the model year. The engine has no fan belt guides but the generator has the fan guard. The other idiosyncrasy is that the convertible heat vents on the floor are 62-63 style. My hood, of course, has the slotted letters and a rusty trunk! Need new trunk lid for my NOS letters...
