Wow! Great information. I am Waaaaay behind in putting out a newsletter,
but if you all agree, I would like to include this in the next one.
Hopefully I can get started on it soon.

With many years of sheet metal and stamping experience my opinion is that it
is an incorrect stamping proceedure. Might have slipped on the die. I have
seen sheet metal double stamped before or irregular. Relatively certain
that it was a goof that happened to be installed on your Monza. No
difference in application. GM goof.

Hi,

Ray asked me about the following and I don't have a clue but I thought
someone on this list might... Please include Ray in your replies.

Here's what Ray is asking about:

The pictures detail what I have found regarding the engine lid hinges on my
'65 Monza convertible. These are about 1/2 inch wider at the deck lid
mounting area than other hinges which I have seen, which are about 1 inch
wide. I set a quarter in each example as a size reference. The other detail
I have found are that the narrow hinge has three horizontal stamped lines in
the middle of the 180 degree bend. The wider hinge has three horizontal
stamped lines, but with a circle in the middle of two of the lines. I looked
at my 65 Corsa coupe and it has the narrow hinges. Both my 'vert and the
Corsa are LOS built cars. The Corsa production is in the late 8,000 with the
body number around 1,095. The 'vert production is in the early 9,000 with a
body number of 555.

The parts books only show one part number (even the '65 and '66 Canadian
books). Has anyone seen these two types of hinges before? Does anyone know
what difference there is in application, if any? Or is just a supplier
variation?

Thanks.
