Joe,The goal of the Stock Corvair Group is to ultimately have available;
both in hard copy and online, exactly the type of information you are
seeking regarding the package shelf on your early 2 door. (both text and
digital images, for the entire Corvair family of vehicles,,,,)

Granted that is a lofty goal,,but if you don't dream it,,,you can
not make it happen...

As you very accurately observed, it is a very big task, but the longest hike
is accomplished by continuously putting one foot in front of the other...

The good news is that the SCG is started down that path. The relational
database concepts have been established, and the types of software required
has been scoped out...the minimum standard for digital images has been
established, and the relative costs envolved, how much storage space will be
required are being evaluated....potential output formats investigated etc
the long list goes on...

You also accurately observed that there are literally hundreds of
individuals in CORSA who have in their personal possession huge amounts
of extremely fantastic information that needs to be pulled together
into ONE place and documented with the appropriate level of professionalism,
and be made available to the Corsa membership.

There is a long list of national car clubs, Corvette, 55-57 Chevy, Mustang
etc that have had such info, at least in hard copy binders, available
to their membership for a very long time....This effort is LONG overdue
as far as I am concerned for our own CORSA organization.

The not so good news is that no one has stepped forward yet to fund
this effort....to be blunt, fundraising from the grass roots has been a bit
weak at best. When it is brought to folks attention at the Annual SCG
meetings at the CORSA National convention...there have been two of these so
far, and the topic of dues for membership in the SCG is broached and
the topic of potentially requiring an small ongoing fee to access the data,
bothdigital images and text, folks passion for the project seems to wane
quickly...A sound long term annual cash flow must be secured to
assure the ongoing success of the project, once the original significant
startup costs are over come...which have not yet been advanced by anyone...
if significant enough resources are brought to bear, there might not need to
be a fee for folks to access the database a few times a year.....
"power users" would have to expect to have to cough up some coin....

Know anybody with deep pockets and sufficient passion for the mission to
fund this effort???

As one of the original members of the SCG some of the above is pure fac, and
some of the above is my personal opinion, as such it is probably not
embraced by all of the team...(I have a tendency to be a bit more pragmatic
that some..) but that's where the effort currently stands..

I would send you along a couple digital images if I had access to a series
one 2 door package shelf to shoot!!!

dme out...
