Chuck,

As I understand it, the 1960 (caveman) group largely is defunct. However, I
am forwarding your question to a few 1960 owners I know, as well as to the
Stock corvair Group list

Bill

Subject: Cave man rear Housing

Hey Bill, How are you?

I have a question-well, first, a description then the question.

I have a '60 rear housing. I bought it with the intent of using it because
the shop manual says it has an oil passage and insert (jet) to squirt oil on
distributor/crank gear. (Two racing buddies have had problems with high
volume pumps; one ruining the brass drive gear). Well, the rear housing is
very interesting to me. No GM, no cast numbers, a silver material, almost
like it was cast in a prototype shop. And it has the indentation on the top,
but alas, no drilled passage.

My question is, who or how can I or you contact the caveman list, if there
is one, to ask about these rear housings? Obviously someone would either
have to remember seeing what I am describing as supposed to be there, or has
housings out of a car, off the engine, or at least the pulley removed so we
could see if they any had casting numbers, etc. plus of course, the oil
passage and insert (which requires the generator mount to be removed).

What say you?

R

Chuck
