[SCG] "Bloomington Gold" for Corvairs?

Hi Guys,

As the second year CORSA Concours Chairman, I would say not too many Corvair folks want to take the time, effort and expense to make and preserve a Corvair like the GM intended. Up to this present time, in the national circuit Kent Sullivan's Canadian built 1966 turbo convertible is the premiere example in a late model, until the bias ply 700 X 13 tires are available from Coker. Every nut, bolt, paint strip, date coded alternator diodes, glass logos and voltage regular are correct. The next item I am working on is date coding the rear plastic window. I even had the postive spring ring battery cable engraved with the correct Canadian code. I know of one more Canadian "actual show car" that will be in the same category as Kent's done soon. There is also a 1966 Corsa Pilot turbo convertible that I know of that is all original with 40,00 miles and never been tapered with. Rich Thompson has a 1964 Turbo coupe. The cars do exist and are shown. We have the documentation to prove it. That is what factory stock original and factory stock restored is all about in Corsa.

Actually, I was frustrated the first time I showed my 1965 Corsa 180. I learned a great deal from that experience and improved the score and car each national convention. It was a challenge and fun which lead me to restoring Kent's Canadian car.

I do agree with Paul that not any one person's word is all devine. There are exceptions! Working as a team is what it is all about. Asking questions and researching for answers. Many good Corsa members are still trying to preserve the originality and authenticity. A few of us nut cases are still around. Hope this commentary helps....
