OK, here is where I am going to leave it. As of now I am going to start
planning for the first independent SCG event in Buffalo some time next
September (2016). (I am hopefully retiring in June of 2016) I will let you
folks pick the date, weekend or weekday, I just need to know by the end of
this year. I will take care of all the arrangements outside of Bill
contacting CORSA and getting their blessing which should be easy. I will
schedule the event to be held at the Buffalo Transportation/Pierce Arrow
Museum. The museum has recently taken over a huge building next door which
has a very modern covered loading dock that can easily fit 2 semi trucks
with 53 foot trailers which we can use in case of rain. I will keep the days
immediately before and after open to assist anyone who wants to tour the
area. I will arrange reasonable lodging and have a directory of reasonable
eating establishments complied. If you desire, I will make arrangements for
a reasonably priced meal the evening of the event at one of the many
historical restaurants that are near by. I will also arrange safe overnight
storage of vehicle and trailers during the event for free.

Thanks and lets make this work, Chuck Facklam

Early September sounds good to me!

I really do not think we have to worry about competing with regular Corvair
events outside of the national. Again, this is going to be focused on the
Factory Stock Corvairs that are never in the lime light at CORSA events
anyways. By the way, August and September is the best weather in Buffalo. I
am good with early September. I will be retired by then!

When we planned our first Myrtle Beach SC Warm up Show 19 years ago. We
scanned the Communique for the annual shows of the Corvair clubs to make
sure we could have a time of the year where we would have best attendance
and try not to interfere with other shows. That turned out to be March. Now
there are shows all months of the year. A lot of preplanning is in store
for for a first show. May through October would be the window for Buffalo
weather. Keep me posted.

It looks like we have some interest. I need to know what dates would work
best. I am a teacher and am out for the summer starting the first week of
July. Anytime thru the third week of August I could make work. It doesn't
have to be a weekend. And yes this event should move around the country. I
am just offering Buffalo as the first. If you want to spend some time here I
will be happy to find you good inexpensive lodging, food and many great
sights to see.

So send be some date suggestions, Thanks, Chuck

We would be interested to. We went to the CORSA Convention there last
minute. I was still working for a power generation company and couldn't take
vacation when I wanted at times. We stayed at a motel 6 14 miles away and
it was nice. Probably better than the host hotel.

I'm about 1200 miles and for Ed Bittman 1500. The Niagara Falls trip we
took was great. (US side.)

Missed going to Tonawanda plant though.

OK, I stuck my neck out a little and now I am going to stick it out more.
Bill thinks my idea is a good one so I am going for it. I am going to start
planning for the first SCG meet separate from a National Corvair Convention.
My first suggestion will be to hold it here in Buffalo. We have a great
rapidly growing Transportation Museum where I could host it. I can get
great hotel rates locally and we have a great revitalized water front not to
mention Niagara Falls 20 minutes away. The list of area attractions is way
to long to list but I can promise a tour of the Tonawanda Engine plant, home
of the Corvair engine will be on the list. What I need to know is who would
be interested in coming to such an event next summer?

Thanks, Chuck Facklam
