Bob, g-body frames (78-88 malibu, monte, cutlass, lemans, granprix, regal)
makes for a real nice front engine vair. Power steering and power disc
brakes. Many stock GM spring and sway bar options. Most any motor and trans
bolts right in. Gears from 2.29 to 4.11. Off the shelf headers and other
speed and handling equipment bolt right in. Wheel base and track are right
on. Complete donar cars can be had from $500.00 - Unlimited leg room. no
heat, no noise, no comparison.
Go front, use a frame.
Jay Dover.

Subject: [V8Vairs] Front-mid-engine questions

I'm investigating the pros and cons of installing the engine in front of me
instead of behind. I can see a lot of benefits such as the availability of
cheap, strong, standard transmissions and rearends and more room inside.

Does the engine (SBC) comfortably between the stock cross member and the
"firewall"?
How is the third member/rear axle hung?
Any particularly difficult problems to overcome if a perimeter frame isn't
plugged into the chassis?

Thank you

Bob Thomas
