Matt: I'm surprised at you for making that statement!! Just to add "fuel" to 
the weight discussion; peruse the following data from a material supplier : 
Keeping with apples to apples---Round seamless steel mechanical tubing 
AISI-MT-1015;1 1/2 inch dia ;18 gage (.049) wall ; WT .759 LBS per foot
Stainless seamless annealed tubing ASTM-A-269;Type 304 ; 1 1/2 inch dia ;18 
gage (.049) wall ;WT .759 LBS per foot.Strange as it may seem ;they weigh 
the same----  I suggest anyone can verify the comparative weights by 
obtaining a copy of a supplier data book;or perhaps, finding data on the
