[V8Vairs] Audi Transmissions

I have heard that that the 01E is the best Audi
transaxle to get , it being stronger than the older
five-speed Audi ... both are Getrag, which is a german
transmission specialist who also builds the Porsche
transaxles. In europe they have the six-speed
logitudinal transaxle for the front-wheel drive Passat
and Audi A4, but unfortunately not in America.
Average prices I have seen on european eBay listings
were about 900 Euros...so about 1300(?) American
dollars. I have also heard that it is possible to
remove the center differential and build a block off
plate for the rear take-off on the AWD 6-speed which
is available in the U.S. Personally, I have wanted to
adapt a WRX STi 6-speed box, since Subaru is an
official GM name-plate (keep it in the family so to
speak). If I can be of any help, let me know.
