Ditto on a non-runner, or one that the PO can[t prove to you it's pretty
sound   ... however::::

One that runs so good that you almost for sure will get a couple years (
10-20 K miles ) on it before starting the $$$$ chase thing (g) ..... is
worth 5 to 10K$$, in my opinion. SO count backwards from there from your
inspection as you go .... keep in mind a nice aluminum radiator and electric
booster fan will be $600, brakes ( cyl and lines )could be $200 if you have
them done ... Clutch and labor is $500; the good news on the seats is that
JY seats are cheap enuff not to worry about ... check out the lights, &
general wiring real good, that could be $200 even if you do it yourself,
which you probably would.
Insist on a compression check, and/or leakdown if the engine will run; &
check the plugs; have a mechanic do it if you want, a cheap investment ....
the carburetor is almost for sure gummed up, figure $200 for a rebuild or JY
working one .... if it needs a paint job, take a deep breath, (g) ......
and no matter how good a shape it's in, budget $500 for updated suspension
right away, so you can play safely ...

Thats what I would do ... BTW, I have 2 running v8vairs ( 350csb ) and I
would love to have a 215 rig, or equivalent .... the 350's are brutal .... I
get a rash after about 150 miles on the highway ... they simply were not
born to cruize or go slow ...
