Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on turning the
differential around 180 degrees from its stock location and then flipping it
upside down
for use in a midengine set up? It seems if the engine turned counter
clockwise, like our beloved Corvair engine does, the pinion and ring gear
would remain
in the correct orientation. Looking for some comments before I go blindly
down the path of no return, (cutting a hole in the backseat.)

Thanks, Kevin

Well That is what several folks are doing with the Porsche G50 Transaxle in
Mid-engine V8 kit cars. It does depend on the origin of the Transaxle. The
Porsche is used in both mid and rear engine configurations. The Boxster and
Caymen are mid-engined and the 911 derivatives (which ever number they are now?)
are rear engined. But for the Corvair engine/trans just flipping the stocker
and turnit around would work. For a while you could purchase a "flipped"
bellhousing. I have forgotten who sold it. It was intended for exactly what you
described though, a stock rotation Corvair motor in a mid engined
