[V8Vairs] was there every a ring and pinion that did work?

I have the kelmark, mid engineering, manta style Corvair to v8  set up,
This turns the ring and pinion backwards and wears it  fast,
Do they or did they ever make a ring and pinion that was made  for this 
conversion and was turning the correct way for it?
