I've seen the car and it is quite impressive in the quality of work and finish. Someone who might know about the history of the car is Steve Goodman. Steve owns Rear Engine Specialists in Golden, Colorado, (303) 278-4889. Steve is well connected in the Corvair world and specializes in turbo Vairs and reverse rotation Vairs, but he also quite knowledgeable about V8 Vairs. I think that Steve helped Mike with some things about this car.

Subject: [V8Vairs] Recent purchase of V8Vair

I have recently purchased 1966 v8 vair that was put together by the late
Mike Hawkes from Littleton, Colorado. I bought it out of Peoria, Illinois
and it now resides here in South Carolina. I rcvd some miscellaneous
paperwork including some Clarks receipts but nothing that relates to any of
the auto's history. Is there anyone on this forum who knows this car and
can shed some light on its origins and build?

Thanks,

Lonnie Campbell
