Tom,
I ordered the kit from Clark's, and yes it was pricey. Trans. I got from TCI. Their output shaft/sun gear was much harder stuff. I took the unit that Clark's supplied (already cut and splined) and 
the TCI shaft to a good fabrication-machine shop in Quincy. Told them what I wanted and got a quote and they did the job. Sorta whined about the quote cause the shaft was uber hard (ruined a number of cutters) but stuck by it. Worked great.
