<VV> HELP - Trip not going well

In '91, we took our Ultravan to the DC Convention. Developed a miss in
Knoxville, determined it was a wallowed out exhaust guide, #5. Removed the
pushrods to both valves, went on to D.C. on 5 cylinders. This closes the
intake valve to keep from screwing up the intake system to the other
cylinders. No big deal.

I have driven my corvair from San Francisco to L.A. on 5 cylenders, and my
trip was a failed spark plug hole (with the accompanying exhaust noise) the
corvair engine is verydurable.

Looking for some information and ideas.

They called this morning. They made it to Stillwater OK last night. Last
night after they got gas the car developed a miss in one cylinder. They said
they drove it about 100 miles last night to get to where they needed to get
and
the miss didn't get any worse, but it was missing.
