<VV> Dash pad on 63 spyder...Glue?

I keep the (stock) dash pad on my 66 Corsa on with gravity only, using the
pins on the underside of the pad for locating purposes. This pad attaches
somewhat differently from the way the EM pads attach (which is why I have
withheld my idea until now), but I have NEVER detected ANY consequence of my
pad's not being "attached." Looks fine, and probably works fine, too. Never
budged in the recent autocross.

Has anybody simply bypassed the glue stage? Seems if a padded dash is going
to crack, shrink or warp there's no amount of glue going to stop it.
There's
certainly enough holding points once all the trim is installed to keep a EM
pad from shifting even slightly.
