Break in lasts until the rings seat. That is usually determined by the amount 
of oil the engine uses. Prior to seating, oil consumption is higher than 
after.
If your cylinders were really round and taper free, then the type of honing 
that was done will probably determine then this happens. If your cylinders were 
plateau honed, the breakin will be almost immediate. Then your first 
consideration should be with the cam and lifters. Run the eng at 2000 rpm for 20 
minutes when first started to accomplish this. Also use a cam oil supplement for 
the cam if new.
