It is also a good idea to loosen the latches to remove tension before trying to unzip the window.--

> Joe - the pics of DaVair look great! Congrats! As for your questions:
>
> "....DaVair now is sporting a new ragtop. Now I need advice on what products
> to use to take the best care of the window and the top."
>
> 1) Do NOT use Armor-All or any similar "vinyl dressing" product on the top or
> rear window.
> 2) DO use quality top care products, such as those sold by Eastwood
> (www.eastwoodco.com)
>
> "Also, is it wise to unzip the window before dropping the top?..."
>
> 1) ALWAYS
> 2) The top and the window should be clean before dropping the top. Unzip the
> window, then place a clean, dry cotton towel in the top well, place the window
> on the towel, then place another clean, dry cotton towel on top of the window.
> 3) Carefully lower the top - making sure the fabric doesn't get pinched in the
> arms or along the side of the car. Take your time and/or use two people.
>
> Other tips:
>
> 1) Use beeswax on the window zipper if it gets hard to unzip
> 2) Try to not raise or lower the top if the ambient temperature is much below 50
> deg F (although it sure is tempting to do so on a crisp Fall or Spring day and
> run around with the heater on!)
> 3) Repair any holes/rips/tears ASAP to keep the top from becoming more damaged.
> Done properly, a repair should be nearly invisible.
>
> Good luck! DaVair looks like a sweet ride!
