They are gapped at .030, but I can gap them more. Can anybody cross
reference a Bosch W8AC plug with an AC/Delco plug. Clark's catalog has a
handy chart but does not list the Bosch item number, only Clark's own
catalog number. I chose the 44F based on that chart so I may have chosen a
colder plug than was previously in there. The thing is, even the Bosch
plugs are carbon fouled now, and they were running the car fine for several
months (until I took this long trip).

More information. A week or two before the trip, I drove the car in the
rain and I know a bunch of moisture had gotten into the engine compartment.
The car wouldn't start at all after the rain until I replaced the spark plug
wires (which were VERY old) and the distributor cap. Could the moisture
have damaged other electrical components I have yet to change causing a weak
spark? My list of unchanged electrical parts is getting small.

Thanks,

Michael
