well i was able to burn the broken 4 flute tap out of the 65 van  4 spd 
transmision!.it took about an hour of carefull torch work, cleaning tips a few 
times and going sunblind (clear goggles) because you need to be able to see real 
close in to keep heat on tap only, but it is out and good new threads. the 
casting looks ok to me. someone used a punch on it but not too bad.so you can burn 
them but it takes a ton of real patience and slow going. i worked from both 
ends to the middle of the hole..found that you heat the tranny less doing that.
