<VV> Tach test

A method for calibrating the tach using a battery charger powered by house
current is in the Classic Corvair on Page 271. It's not intended for
verifying whether the tach functions, but I could see it being used for
that. There may be one (the same) in the Tech Guide, too, but I couldn't
find it.

Is there a method to test the tach operation directly at the the unit? I
believe the wires attached to coil are correct according to manual specs.
However the tach does not operate.I don't know how to trace if ther is a
short
or??
The car is a Corsa 140
