Back in the 70's when we here first started running synthetics ( mostly
Mobil 1 )  we were advised by some old timers that we might see clogs due to
the old varnish coming off in lumps.  Can't say I ever did, but did witness
sudden failures of old seals ... a phenomena of the same order, I think,
although probably just the new synthetic washing away a " varnish" seal,
where the original seal was long gone .... 40 years gone, most likely ...

Anyhow, has anyone seen loose clogs moving around in the engine due to
loosening from just switching to a modern synthetic ....   symptoms might be
one rocker / lifter running dry, or ..... hmmm .... 2 main bearings galling
......
