The only fan belt problem I've had in years is when my alternator siezed on 
my '65 Monza.

Doing about 50MPH at the time...

Shreaded the heck outs the belt.

Made a heckuva mess and this was about 30 minutes after doing a thorough 
cleaning of the
engine room and installing a new set of red silcone ignition wires. Took 
forever to get the
black spots out of the wires.

At least the replacement alternator was cheap enough. Yes, I followed the 
instructions in the 
Tech Guide.

If you don't have one...   BUY ONE!   Give it to yourself for Christmas.
