<VV> Cam

Jim,
Your flaps has some very slippery "break-in" or assembly lube for
cams and lifters, etc. Usually in a tube. StaLube for example. All cam mfg
sell it as well. Initial wear determines life of cam.

Put the lube on all (crank, cam, rod, etc) bearings, lobes,
lifters-all surfaces, ends of pushrod tubes and top of valve stems or rocker
faces. Anywhere oil will end up being the lubricating source. You MUST use
this stuff initially, or you run the risk of early cam and/or bearing
failure.

An old trick of yesteryear was to assemble with STP -the really
slick oil additive-coating all of the surfaces and then prior to buttoning
up the engine, pour the remainder of the can or bottle onto the rods and
crank.

The new moly lubes for assembly are better, supposedly, and the cam
mfg. mandate their use.

Initial run-in rpm should be 1500-2500 rpm for about a half hour
depending on where you read the recommendations.

Good Luck

Subject: <VV> Cam

When you put a new cam and lifters in what do you use to lube it with
till the oil gets to It?
Clarks seas you will score it if it is not lubed good for the first 15
min. Of runing.
Thanks Jim
